Welcome to Cape Falls, a town with old-fashioned values.
Laura Cox is twenty years old and in love with a man older than her.
Dean Riley has a broken past. He moved to Cape Falls to try and get over the death of his wife and child. He never expected to get involved with a woman. Especially, a younger woman.
Laura and Dean embark on a passionate affair. Neither was prepared for the consuming fire blazing between them. However, an outsider is about to break their budding relationship apart.
Can Dean overcome the death of his wife and learn to accept Laura as she is? What will happen to Laura when the gossip surrounding her becomes too hard to bear? Nothing is certain in the town of Cape Falls.

Crossing Boundaries (Cape Falls Book 1) - edition by Sam Crescent. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews
Dean Riley, an author of erotic novels, moves to the small peculiar town of Cape Falls after the deaths of his wife and child. His sadness is like cloak. Laura is 20 and just beginnig her life she is a college student who wants to be a writer. Her parents invite Dean to dinner and Laura falls in love with him. This story is about the challenges to their love and how they eventually build a strong loving relationship inspite of them. Sam Crescent usually writes about dominant males but Dean was more gentle than most of her other heroes. I read Sam Crescent for her almost crazy uber males so I was a little disapointed.
Crossing Boundaries
Laura a 20 yr old just starting life. Peter has watched her from afar and has had a secret crush on her since high school. Peter, the popular jock and her the nerd. Dean, a writer and widower, has lost a lot. A wife, a son and a life he so desperately misses. When he discovers Laura and her love of writing, he offers his help. Peter also wanting to be in Laura's life slowly gets her attention by pretending to need help in history. Both men wanting her attention. Peter wants to change his rakish ways and become a man she can love. Dean has a attraction to her but had promised his wife to love no other. Laura grows to love both men but in different ways, one as a good friend and the other with all her heart.
This was a very touching love story. Laura a young and impressionable girl, who has a attraction to the new man in town. Most women can relate to having a crush on the new or older man they have met. This is about a crush/lust/devotion and eventually love. Wonderful story of how age is just a number and we can't always control who we love. Dean loved his wife with all his heart and is very conflicted about his feelings for Laura. Both main characters are relate able and I feel very real. I could see a friend or someone telling this story. It is believable and actually very hot! Adults only! Thanks for the great read Sam. Will have the other 2 up soon!

In all fairness to Sam Crescent, we need to part ways. I read her books, then criticize the bejeezus out of them. She obviously has a strong following so this is going to be it for me.
But, before I go....
The h is a VIRGIN; the H is a widower. They live in a creepy little town that doesn't make any sense, but whatever. This is part of a series of which I've dipped my toe in on a few others, and the town is "judgmental" and the vibe in this and the others is just off. There is a malevolence to the characters I can't put my finger on, and that includes the H's as well as the evil villains. The h's are slightly vacant, apparently plump aka voluptuous sex goddesses, just waiting to imprint.
Anyhoo, the h's parents are odd. They'll only pay for the cheap college, won't let her drive, and dad wants her to get knocked up and quit college so he can save money. Her words not mine. She's 20. She works at the diner where she's stalked/crushed on by a high school ex-bully, turned nice guy Peter who is her whipping boy. When she changes and starts working at the library he follows her and reads. Then in order to be close to her asks her to tutor him although he doesn't need it. I thought that was sweet, and in another book he would, could, should be the hero.
The h, in turn, is crushing on the 20 years older H, a widower who lost his wife and son in a car accident. He's a writer with dominant tendencies as the h finds out later to her submissive delight.
The h and H bond over the writing lessons he's giving her. They have sex. Please tell me that is NOT a spoiler this is a Sam Crescent novel. He freaks out because he cares, and she's 20 years younger. That's the potential scandal; he's 20 years older. It's not the dom/sub relationship which to be fair would be behind closed doors anyway. Uh huh.
He then tries to drive her away by bringing a busty OW to dinner at her parents whereupon she yells out some bad words and leaves. He couldn't have talked to her, but had to be cruel instead? And 20 or not, if I ever yelled, what she yelled at my parents house...I am 54. Not going there. Oh yeah, she's pregnant, and goes to live with Peter who is now her live in, celibate whipping boy. Lucky Peter. It's okay, he gets his turn to mess with someone's mind in a later book. I am very good at skimming.
She starts being shunned because someone at the doctor exposed the fact she was pregnant. This violates HIPAA in a major way, but she's such a self-involved idiot she would never think of confronting the office or individual. Remember this is a "weird" town. The H comes back, and they deserve each other.
The writing was clunky and disjointed. The sex mechanical, and the two major characters as well as some of the minor ones were creeps. I felt bad for Peter as he actually changed his behavior for the idiot h, and gets nothing but a cold shoulder and used like a Kleenex.
Some might say I'm biased because I love Sam crescent books but even if I did not I know I would love this book. Not only is the writing amazing but the story is beautiful, touching, and sexy as hell and makes you wish it would not end.
This book is great!! I loved the characters, and it is very steamy. There's nothing better than a short, sexy story with heart.
Every young woman should have a real man as her first-time lover. Crescent always write great books and this is by far one of the best.
I hardly write reviews but I need to say this was a terrible story. The h writing in her diary felt like I was reading a preteen writing of " he likes me, he likes me not " and h complains she being treated like a kid by her parents. I never understood the attraction between the H/h. Just read the blurb and you already read the story because there was nothing exciting about the storyline to make it to have multi chapters
This was a sad story. I felt so bad for Peter. He loved her. Wish I had never read it. It doesn't matter if Peter has his own story. The story line would have been better between Laura and Peter. Omg what I could do with that story.
